Community Through Culture: Celebrating Juneteenth in Marin City |
Hi there! I’m Emma, Digital Associate Editor with Marin Magazine. Juneteenth is just around the corner, and Marin has plenty of opportunities to celebrate this holiday. One certainly worth checking out is the ninth annual Marin City Juneteenth Community Festival, happening on June 21 this year and with ties all the way back to the 1980s. I had the chance to talk to lead organizer Oshalla Marcus, who encourages community members to participate in this family-friendly affair and honor this year’s theme of Kuumba, meaning “creativity” in Swahili. So grab your family and friends and enjoy this culturally vibrant celebration with music, activities, food and more!
