NRC approves construction of Tennessee small modular nuclear reactor
The permit will mark just the second approval in the U.S. for a commercial advanced reactor and the first for the GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactor design TVA selected. The design is similar to, but smaller than, the reactors TVA employs across its nuclear plants at three sites spread between Tennessee and Alabama.

Germany's Evonik rejects BASF's $11.7B bid
A BASF company source said Evonik's portfolio was well suited to the group, offering possible cost benefits through synergies. A takeover would strengthen customer-facing business and boost company resilience, while also reducing dependency on the European market, the source added.
